Mapping Exercise
We learned the importance of installation in our research method class on Wednesday.During the session, we discovered that the installation may have an important impact inside the building. Then, we visited a few location as part of our thesis work.We went to several places such as Gunwaf Quays,Church and University Library. We have a talk about teamwork at Friday class. I have learned that participation as well as collaboration are not the same thing after this session.
Next, our lecturer gave each of us an A3 piece of paper with instructions to draw a mapping diagram by showing the connections between Wymering Manor House's interior and the outside world.Furthermore, our lecturer asked us to consider the biophilic spaces within the existing building. Woodbound(1958) claims that biophilic design is the process of incorporating nature into building design to improve residents' health and well-being.Additionally, we must consider the building's natural ventilation system and the importance of airflow within a building. This session is interesting to me because it challenges our conventional ideas regarding how to design sustainable interior spaces.
